Version 2.162

Grepolis was updated to 2.162 on May 2nd, 2018

Summary

  • This update contains a new hero in preparation of upcoming events, as well as some technical adjustments.
  • The council of heroes received sorting functionality, advisors show the exact time they're ending their services and it is now visible which units will vanish when changing Gods.

New Features and Changes

  • Advisors now not only display the date, but also the time their services end so that extensions and actions involving advisors can be planned even more conveniently.

  • The confirmation prompt about changing a god in a city now also contains a list of all the mythical units that will be lost in the process.
  • Sorting functionality has been added to the council of heroes. Heroes can be sorted by name, type, level and the city they are assigned to.
  • A new hero was added to the game - Ajax.
    • Ajax is an new exclusive hero that becomes available with the next in-game event.
    • Effect: Hoplites have 16.5% (+1.5% per level) increased offensive and defensive values while fighting at Ajax's side.
    • Cost: 35 Coins of War (after losing exclusive status)

Bugfixes

  • Mythical Hen - If several recipes of the same item type were available, it was possible that the wrong ingredients were placed in the crafting space when selected from the recipe book.
  • Effects - Bonus effects specific to the event Pandora's Box did not display the proper texts in the inventory.

Version 2.161

Grepolis was updated to 2.161 on April 18th, 2018

Summary

  • Animations were added for any spells cast in the game, highlighting the results of the spell especially for new players.
  • Furthermore, we changed the way candidates are shown for the upcoming player council elections, to have a randomized order of candidates in the windows to not distort the election results.

New Features and Changes

  • Parts of the tutorial can now be skipped by more experienced players.
    • Players with a Grepolisscore >250 or who unlocked a hero on the respective world can now choose to "skip" the tutorial.
    • Skipping the tutorial will not remove the quests altogether, so that you can grab all rewards. However, all guided steps will be deactivated so that you can tackle the quests whenever you feel like it.
    • The option to skip is only available for the first 20 quests, which constitute for the most guided part of our quest lines.
  • Any spell cast by a God now comes with a highlight animation, showing the area targeted by the spell.
    • The highlight surrounds the interface portion that is affected by the spell. This is an example of the spell highlight for "Nature's Gift":
    • These animations can be turned off in the options.
  • The candidate lists within the player council election window now show the candidates in a randomized order whenever the window is (re-)loaded. This should not give any of the candidates an advantage by being most visible in the first list position(s).

Bugfixes

  • Notifications - Admin notifications and world wonder notifications had the same icons. World wonder notifications now sport their own distinctive icon again:
  • Reports - The hint regarding new battle point calculations was not always displayed if no battle points were gained. It will now always be shown.
  • Events - With an event sale ending, the event icon could also disappear until the game was reloaded. This should no longer happen.
  • Mythical Hen - One of the daily rankings did not reset properly due to time change to CEST.
  • Login screen/Team overview - An internal error occurred when loading the page. Content was not displayed.

Version 2.160

Grepolis was updated to 2.160 on April 4th, 2018

Summary

  • Battle point calculations were adjusted in order to reduce battle points granted for defeating units of alliance members and removing battle points for killing owned units altogether.
  • Wheel of fortune events now show the chances of winning items directly on the wheel.
  • The game options were expanded to be able to disable warnings about attacking members of your own alliance.
  • Medea and Telemachos were rebalanced slightly and now get a higher increase for their bonus effects with each level-up.

New Features and Changes

  • Battle point calculations for both defending and attacking were adjusted to make attacks on friendly units less attractive to farm battle points.
    • Successful defeat of units in the players posession generates 0 battle points.
    • Defeated alliance or pact members' units generate 20% of the total possible battle points for all units killed. In case of this resulting in decimal numbers, battle points get rounded.
    • Battle reports will display an info icon with more information on the specifics:
  • Tired of confirming that you would like to engage in an attack on your fellow alliance members? It is now possible to disable confirmation prompts about attacking your own alliance members from the game options.
  • All events with a Wheel of Fortune now show probabilities of winning a specific reward directly in the user interface, so you can easily tell how high your chances are of getting the most valuable rewards.
  • Medea's and Telemacho's bonus effect values were adjusted. They now each increase by +1.5% per hero level gained (was: 1%).

Bugfixes

  • Recruitment - Fixed a rare error which could get caused when instantly finishing a recruitment of colony ships, resulting in no ship to be granted.
  • Agora - Removed an extra space between the current city count, the separator and the overall possible city count in the agora.

Event/Sale icons - The timer was displayed with gaps and the glow around the icon was off.

  • Mythical Hen - A java script error could lead to the event window not loading.
  • Mythical Hen - A discrepancy between population values of effects in the recipe book and crafted ones has been fixed.

Version 2.159

Grepolis was updated to 2.159 on March 15th, 2018

Summary

  • This update does not contain a lot of visual changes, but it contains several changes in regards to our upcoming Easter themed event, as well as some technical changes, adding some things to look forward to. ;)
  • We also spent some more time on implementing the functionality required to share live conquest reports on the mobile app. For more details on this, please check the app changelog for this version as soon as it gets released.
  • The most visible of changes improves the readability of the city list within the farming village overview. Furthermore we made some code adjustments to improve the situation with 3rd party scripts a bit and fixed some bugs along the way.

New Features and Changes

  • The background color of islands in the city list within the farming village overview was adjusted to make it easier to find your way around with long city lists.
  • Some changes were introduced to the way the positioning of the user interface is determined.
    • This change should ensure that less issues arise with 3rd party scripts whenever we make smaller interface adjustments.
    • Disclaimer: Albeit us making some adjustments for your convenience, custom user scripts remain an unsupported, unofficial addition to the game and therefore continue to be used at own risk!

Bugfixes

  • Militia - The popup warning about an incoming attack and prompting to enlist militia was shown on next login of previously attacked player, even if the attack was already over. A check is now in place to prevent this from happening.
  • Grepolisscore - Fixed some issues causing Grepolisscore to not be synced across markets. Should discrepancies get noticed, please contact support for a manual resync to fix any issues which were existing before this bugfix.
  • Units - Under certain circumstances it was possible that unit numbers displayed for the same city could differ between Agora, city tooltip on the world map and the user interface.
  • Spartan Assassins - Fixed an error that could randomly cause players to miss out on select community goal bonuses in case of a rare combination of events.
  • Effects - If a siege was broken while a player was on vacation mode or had low population, it was possible that certain bonus effects were not restored after the siege was ended.
  • Commands - Resolved a problem that could cause conquest information in the command list to not update properly in case the besieging player lost the original city the colony ship was sent from.
  • Profiles - The grepolisscore image and tooltips were missing on some player profiles due to a JavaScript error.

Version 2.158

Grepolis was updated to 2.158 on March 7th, 2018

Summary

  • Notifications had 3 small changes done to improve the information given. There are now two more distinctive icons for attack planner and admin notifications and notifications about incoming supporting units also provide more information on their destination.
  • The in-game chat has been fully deactivated and removed from the user interface. Significant changes would have been required to restore functionality but only few players tried to access since its temporary deactivation. We decided to part ways with the outdated chat system.
  • At the same time, our developers spent some time on improving the display of live conquest reports shared by other players on the app. Please refer to upcoming mobile changelog to learn more.

New Features and Changes

  • Notifications informing you about incoming supporting units sent to one of your cities now also contain their destination city.
  • Two notifications received new unique icons in order to avoid confusion with other notification types.
    • Attack planner notifications no longer look like support actions, but have their own style:
    • Notifications issued by game admins no longer look like in-game reports. If you see this icon, check for important news:
  • The alliance chat has been removed from the user interface
    • Due to technical difficulties with the old implementation of the alliance chat (Flash), it was previously deactivated and would have required extensive rework for it to be usable again.
    • Seen as less than 5% of our active players tried to access the chat during the temporary deactivation phase, we have decided to move on and remove the alliance chat altogether to focus the resources in other areas.
  • Event and sale icons, as well as unit tooltips now scale in accordance to screen resolution, in order to prevent inconveniences on small screens.
  • Adjusted the handling of Captchas for more convenience in case there are any service interruptions of the Captcha service.

Bugfixes

  • Tutorial - Quest arrows can no longer overlap and block the quest log. In case of overlap, the arrow can now be clicked through.
  • Recruitment overview - Numbers shown for the current ongoing recruitment in the recruitment overview sometimes did not match actual recruitment numbers.
  • Effects - Returning units from a besieged town led to effects being put into effect during the sieged that should only be re-triggered upon fending off/cancelling the siege.
  • Effects - Fixed several issues causing event effects and other bonuses to be applied multiple times albeit being unique.
  • Inventory - The mouse cursor did not switch to indicate that items can be interacted with (used). The right cursor is now shown again.
  • Localization - Fixed overlapping text on the gold shop button in several languages.
  • Incantation Circle/In Demeter's Name - Upon closing and reopening the event window after an item has been created but not collected, the window will keep its collection background to indicate that the item needs to be used or stored.
  • Conquest - Using the BBCode to share a live conquest report on a ghost town returned the error "[Invalid BBCode]". These reports can be shared again.

Important Information

  • This update contains minor changes to the user interface, which may break third party scripts. Please confirm that these scripts have been updated to reflect all changes before reporting interface issues.

  • You can now show off your world mastery with 4 different crown types earned for finishing 7 wonders in several worlds.

New Features and Changes

  • There are now several crowns to accomplish for reaching 7 wonders in more than just one world.

  • The following heroes lose their exclusive status and appear in the regular hero recruitment rotation:
    • Medea

    • Telemachos

  • Awards/Notes - The awards "Turning Back time" displayed an incomplete tooltip when added to notes.
  • Tutorial Quests - The objective for "A Monumental Task" was not formulated in a clear manner. The quest now states that both special buildings need to be built in the same city.

Version 2.155

Grepolis was updated to 2.155 on January 24th, 2018

Summary

  • The sprint for version 2.155 was used for research and concept work, thus not generating too many visual changes.
  • As requested by the community often over the past years, we now changed the way bonus effects are stored in order to recover them after a siege.
  • Furthermore some bugs were fixed and technical updates were performed in the background.

New Features and Changes

  • Bonus effects are now stored differently, enabling them to be restored under certain conditions.
    • Upon the start of a siege, all bonus effects on the besieged city are now saved and will be restored if the siege is not successful.
      • Effects that affect this city only are taken off during the siege and restored with their previous remaining time once the siege was ended. This means the initial duration gets extended by the siege duration.
      • Global effects, like alliance rewards (e.g. from Grepolympia) or effects that are active on every player city (e.g. Rituals) will keep running as usual, albeit not being active during the siege, meaning that they will not be extended once the siege was broken successfully.
    • Event-specific effects which last for the full event duration (Witch's Wisdom & Devoted Priests) are now restored upon restarting, both for voluntary restarts on a game world and after losing the last city and subsequently taking a fresh start on the same game world.

Bugfixes

  • City Foundation - Travel times were not updated when switching city while the foundation screen is opened.
  • Trades - Under certain conditions, trades were not cancelled after the destination town was deleted.
  • Grepolisscore - Fixed several cases of inconsistencies with the Grepolisscore between different game worlds in the same language version.
  • Winter Grepolympia - The reminder about the end of the event lacked a graphic on beta. Nike will now properly inform you about the end of the event as soon as the update has taken place.
  • Events - The information window providing information about the start of an event displayed some styling issues when two events of any kind were active at the same time.
  • Bonus effects - After breaking a siege, the game tried to restore alliance rewards multiple times, causing higher load on the game world.

Important Information

  • This update contains minor changes to the user interface, which may break third party scripts. Please confirm that these scripts have been updated to reflect all changes before reporting interface issues.

Version 2.154

Grepolis was updated to 2.154 on January 10th, 2018

Summary

  • This sprint was focused mostly on technical improvements and mobile features, thus there are not a lot of visible changes. Feel free to check our mobile changelog, however, as soon as it's published. We have some good news for those looking to rename their cities from the app. ;)
  • Of course we also fixed a lot of bugs as you can see below.

Bugfixes

  • Awards - Daily awards were displayed incorrectly in notes, with the year covering most of the graphic due to incorrect text formatting.

Island view - Fixed a city positioning error which caused the harbor to face the beach rather than the sea. We hope affected players' ships did not strand. ;)

  • Heroes - Descriptive unit icons in hero training dialog were outdated. Replaced with new icons.
  • City overview - City names with more than 20 characters were cut off in the city overview. This is no longer the case.
  • Effects - Tooltip of "Side by side with..." unit effect items stated NaN as population info. The right values are now displayed.
  • Offers - If two offers get triggered at the same time, only the most recent one could be accessed and display issues could occur.
  • Map - After updating own city names while viewing far-away map areas, the map would not update the city name correctly.
  • Quest log - Check Mark and exclamation mark indicators for new and finished quests were not shown properly for island quests.
  • Tutorial - Arrow for tutorial step "enact divine power" was not displayed properly.
  • Pandora's Box - Mission report window was docked to the left of the parent window by default although it should have been centered.
  • Pandora's Box - Fixed an issue that could cause entries of the daily event ranking to not be saved correctly in very specific edge cases.
