The Event
The Hesperides have done it yet again (though thankfully not with a Golden Apple). From 4th April to 11th April, all of the players have been entrusted with a special chicken from the Garden of the Hesperides. The chicken has the ability to lay golden eggs, and you can exchange these eggs for favors from the gods and for special rewards in-game.
Like all good Easter chickens, in order to lay eggs she will need to be well fed. Your chicken enjoys eating grass, worms and grain, so send your population out and let them search for food in your town and in the countryside. The probability of finding a specific chicken feed depends on the duration of your search.
We hope that you enjoy this new way of celebrating the arrival of Spring
Your Easter Chicken
In order to ensure that your chicken is well fed, you need to first open the chicken coop. This can be done by clicking on the Chicken and Egg icon in the lower right of the screen. It looks like the image to the left. This will open up your chicken coop and from there you can select to go to either see how your chicken and eggs are doing, or go to the Easter Store.
The Chicken Coop
From here you can keep track of how many eggs your chicken has laid, and how much feed you have. It's important to ensure that you have enough feed to keep making those lovely golden eggs.
Searching/Collecting Feed
In order to feed your chicken you will need to search for the various types of food that it likes to eat. As these chickens are divine in nature, they are quite picky eaters. Not just any worm, grass, or grain will do. You will have to send your citizens out to search for the food. The search will not affect your resource production or impact on your free population.
There are 4 options that you can choose from and each one will yield varying amounts of feed. There is no guarantee that your citizens will bring back food, but as long as you keep searching, you will find enough to keep that chicken happy.
You can also cancel your search, but if you do this you won't get any chicken feed! After the search time is over, you have to collect the feed you have found. It's not automatically given to your chicken!
Egg Productivity
There are three different types of feed you can collect to feed your chicken (grass, worms and grain). Each type of feed increases your chicken's egg production by a specific value:
Feed | Productivity/hour |
Grass | 2 |
Worms | 4 |
Grain | 6 |
Each piece of food will keep your chicken satisfied for one hour. After one hour, it's gone and your chicken will be hungry again. You can feed your chicken up to 8 times in a row to extend the feeding time. To feed your chicken, click on one of the three Feed (x/8) buttons. When the limit is reached (8/8), the button will be deactivated. After one hour the counter will decrease and you can feed your chicken again. A progress bar and countdown on the screen show the current filling level of your chicken.
- Hint: You can feed your chicken 3 different types of feed at the same time (eg. grass, worms and grain).
Second chicken
You can add a second chicken to your chicken coop by paying 250 gold. If you feed both chickens you can double your egg production! Two chickens can produce a maximum of 24 eggs per hour.
Easter Store
The Easter Store is where you can redeem your eggs for various special gifts or divine favors. In addition to using the eggs, you can also use gold to make up the difference to earn the rewards.
As you can see there are a number of items which can be purchased using the eggs. The following table lists what they are and their benefits:
Countdown
The Easter event is only available for a limited time, between April 4th and April 11th, 2012. The remaining time is always visible, displayed as a countdown centered at the top of the Easter event window. After the countdown runs out, it won't be possible to produce any more eggs or to buy items in the Easter Store!
