Template:Update In Grepolis, you navigate on three different views over your island world. That lowest - the City Overview - is described in the chapter Basics. In it, you can administer and expand your Polis.

In the following two sections we explain to you which functions you use on the two other maps, the Island map and the World map.

Island Map

"The true contempt of an invader is shown by deeds of valour in the field" - Hermocrates

To view the area surrounding your city click on the map picture

Inselkarte.JPG

in the top right of the screen. Here you see all Farms and hostile Polis that are currently established on your island.

This map shows the nearby villages and cities. You click on the farming village or the Polis of your choice to view the action menu .

In farming villages, you have three different choices:-

1-General Information which gives you the current statistics of the village (strength,Mood and current trade ratio).

2-Attack where you select the number and type of units to send and choose either Resource Looting or Strengthen the village.

3-Trade allows you to trade resources at a beneficial rate. You can only Trade if you have a Market built

In player held cities you have 6 options. These include friendly trade and sending an army!

1-General Information which gives you the current statistics of the village.

2-Support. This allows you send troops to help another player defend his city.

3-Attack where you select the number and type of units to send and choose either Resource Looting or Strengthen the players city.

4-Trade allows you to trade resources at a beneficial rate. You can only Trade if you have a Market built

5-Enact Divine Powers. With your Temple built you can gain Divine Favours which are used to either assist yourself or hinder other players. Here is where you activate those powers.

6-Espionage. To do this, you first must have a cave. This is where you send your spies from so you can learn the current status of your enemy. There is a sliding scale to determine how much you will offer your spy to carry out this task. Minimum cost is 1000 Silver. Remember that if the player you are spying on has more silver in his cave than you do in yours the espionage will fail and they will get a report informing them of your spying attempt. This may spur them to action against you sooner than you wished. And the player you are spying on will not know that you spied on them unless you told them or they have built an Oracle, and vice-versa.

The map is easily moved and you can drag and drop it to get a better view. It allows you to move your map around to see neighbouring islands. It is quite easy to use as long as the distances are not too great. While it is possible to view the entire world in this view it would be far easier to use the World Map view for that.

World Map

"Armed forces abroad are of little value unless there is prudent counsel at home" - Cicero

Wish to see

World Map

in a wider view? Clicking on the small compass changes the main view to that of the world map. From here you can see who is on neighbouring islands and plan your world domination. You can move around the map by dragging and dropping the picture.

If you wish to get a closer view of any island that interests you or to see a city better just double click and it will alter the picture to a close up view. Here you can call up the context menu for each city just as on your own island.

When you are in the 'World Map' view, cities are displayed only as coloured dots.

The world is divided into 100 oceans, the world is essentially a big grid, here is how the oceans are arranged:

Map Grid

Right at the start of the game you are given a choice as to which direction you start in, these are: -NW (Yellow on the map above) -SW (Green on the map above) -NE (Red on the map above) - SE (Purple on the map above)

Which direction you choose to start in has no effect on you game play, however if you are joining late in a world then you may select a direction where lots of people have chosen and so will find it very hard to grow, if this happens i would recommend 'Restarting'; you can do this in your 'Settings' menu.

Holiday event

Holiday Banner

Hello little elfs and forum reindeer,

Once again the holiday season will be upon us and we would like to reward our players with an in-game advent calender. Many of you may know this event from last year. Presents will be floating in the ocean from December 1st until December 24th, and you will be able to open one each day(24 presents in total).

The contents of the presents may be: -resources -units -spells -other bonuses

This event will be active on all worlds.

Advent calendar guide:

1) Look to the bottom right corner of your screen and find the present there: File:Http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/2939/43074968.png

2) Hover your mouse over it and a window like this will open: File:Http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/1456/46639710.png

You always use the first numbers of the X and Y coordinates

so X: 456 and Y:789 would be shown as ocean: 47

So the present is between X coordinates: 400-499 and Y coordinates: 700-799!

3) Insert the X and Y coordinates from the present hint into the map navigator tool and you should find the present for that day swimming in that ocean. Remember, it is nice to communicate the position of the gift to your alliance as a courtesy.

Additional information: -Only one present can be opened per day -The time used for this competition will be the Grepolis.net server time GMT +1 -The hint for the day is updated every day at midnight at 00:00 GMT+1 -The "source code trick" may not work on the 2.0 version -Posts about the location of gifts on the Grepolis forum are allowed -Each world has different gift coordinates.
